What is Biblical Fasting
Below explains what fasting is and outlines ways you can fast
Biblical fasting is intentionally giving up food for a period of time to focus our attention, hunger, and dependence on God.
Fasting is not about earning something from God or proving how spiritual we are. It is about intentionally creating space to seek Him through prayer, Scripture, worship, repentance, and surrender.
The goal is simple: Less of what distracts us and more intentional focus on Jesus.
There is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Prayerfully consider what type of fast is appropriate for you.Check out below what each day will bring and what our prayer focuses will be.
Water Only Fast:
Abstain from food for a set period of time and drink water only. This is the most restrictive option and should be approached carefully.
Follow the pattern found in Daniel by removing rich or indulgent foods and eating simple foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds while drinking water.

Choose to fast one or two meals each day. Use the time you would normally spend eating to intentionally pray, read Scripture, and seek God.
Cut Out the Noise:
Along with fasting food, we are encouraging everyone to consider removing things that create unnecessary noise and distraction in our lives. For these seven days, consider fasting social media, news media, entertainment, streaming, gaming, or anything else that regularly competes for your attention. The point isn't simply to stop doing something. It's to replace the noise with more room for God.
